My Christmas present
Well, my friend who used to work with me took a heavy hint and bought me a $25 gift certificate to Lord of the Rings Online but I bought myself an automatic bread maker! The first trial loaf was correctly baked, had a nice crust and held together well and tasted... BLAND! So today I tried a recipe for Apple/Walnet bread - MUCH better. What I really, really want to do is figure out a good cranberry/nut bread recipe. Someone who worked with me about 20 years ago had an uncle who sent in homemade cranberry/nut bread every Christmas and it was better than most cookies. Even if I had his recipe, it wouldn't work for the automatic bread maker, but I'm optimistic. I've had to get a bit more expensive for Christmas presents lately. I can't do the children's crafts and paint with numbers that I used to. Combo of my hands to shaky and my concentration being shot.
