Writer's Block: Tinsel town

Alright, so I've decided that I should write more, just in general. The result of this (or rather, solution) is that once a week or more, I am going to answer one of those "writer's block" question. Thankfully, there's an archive option, so I can easily choose one. Here goes...

Do you put up decorations for the holidays? If so, when do the decorations go up and when do you take them down?

I try to put up holiday decorations. Mostly for Halloween or Christmas, though. For Halloween, I'd say I put up some of the decorations as early as a month or so. Carved pumpkins can also serve as Thanksgiving decor, but I'm not really enthusiastic about Thanksgiving, so much as the food, lol.

Halloween happens to be my favorite holiday (no surprise there) for a few reasons.

  • For the obvious reasons of costumes and candy,
  • It was my first cat's (a black cat ;) ) birthday,
  • Because of my "religious path,"
  • It's the day before my grandfather's birthday,
  • It's one week before my own birthday,
And I'm sure there are other reasons I've forgotten, but yeah. My favorite holiday.

Christmas is just easy to decorate for. Seriously, stores sell decorations about the same time they do for Halloween. A bit overkill, if you ask me. I probably put my tree up (it's a small, pink, pre-lit tree) around Halloween, maybe early November. I just recently bought a tree skirt to go with it. It's cute with winter characters on it. I'll probably put up pics later when I recharge my camera batteries.

I'm very good at not taking down decorations for a few months, if ever. Especially now that I've settled into a new place, and I think I'm going to be staying here for a long time. But we'll see. I'm still constantly working on organizing and sorting through things, getting rid of what I don't really need. (My mother gave me her pack-rat tendencies. >.> So I'm working on changing that.)

That's all for this question. I'm hoping to eventually write lengthier answers as time goes on, and I answer more questions. Again, we'll see...
