It's not a very well kept secret in some circles that about 5 months ago I began working on JipangMUCK, NuJipang, Jipang 3.0, whatever people want to call it. MotM had died down significantly and hadn't shown signs of picking up since and I'd been mulling the idea of making one last game from scratch for a while now. ProtoMUCK tech has come a long

Twice more and I'll actually take on physical form. People really should be more careful about that sort of thing.
At any rate, like shadrad we've already talked quite a bit behind the scenes, but here are my thoughts anyway.
- What aspects of a theme like this appeal to you?
There has been a lack of a good MU setting for swords and sorcery for a long time now. The places where you can fit those characters in right now typically forces them to live alongside more futuristic settings, and typically place a great deal of emphasis on staff managed "official factions". There's a fine difference between staff helping to direct a story, and factions being heavily relied on as a crutch by players to drive the majority of interaction.
- What type(s) of characters would you be most interested in RPing?
Filthy mongrel foreigners. While I'm extremely familiar with a number of the materials that are currently being sourced for FC material, I'm most likely to play characters that I've contemplated at some point in time but written off because of the choices of game that were available to me. This is largely going to end up being characters without strong ties to Japanese mythology, but ones that are largely compatible and easily adapted.
That said, I'm going to be playing these characters because I like them and they're setting compatible, not because I want to force "my fandoms" (I feel unclean just using that phrasing) down the throats of others.
- Is there anything you hope the game DOESN'T allow/feature that would make it less appealing for you?
Touched on earlier, but I really need a break from the heavy factional combat emphasis that has been so common lately. I'm fine with there being political intrigue and the like that are represented, just so long as things aren't structured to where there are X major factions and precious little of importance happens outside of them. I think this is more of a player culture thing though; if it's not something that the admins cater to, it's not likely to manifest itself.
- Are there any non-theme features that you hope to see/not see, such as web page profiles for characters, stats/combat system, etc.?
Like nimriye, I'm going to let others talk to this point. OYASHI
- Are you interested in RPing FCs for this setting or mostly interested in possibilities for OCs?
Adapted FCs mostly. For various reasons I've never been much of an OC person. Despite my earlier stated intents, I probably will have at least one non-adapted FC.
- What FC casts would you want to make sure the game incorporates?
Between what was in the post and the ones others have been touching on, I think most of the essentials I care about have been nailed.
