RANT!
How is Exeter University so fucking un-organised!!??? I do not understand! First.... I could not enrole online! it took them about 2 weeks to to enrole me-and still i could not complete the things i needed to because they took something off the system i needed......?? So i had to complete it on a different website!
Then i didn't get my ID card for another two or three weeks.....
Now they have messed up my placement!
I was going to go to Fremington Manor which i was looking forward to but it was not confirmed. Then i look on my e-mail and find i'm not going there after all, I'm going to Capener Ward at North Devon and it was confirmed! which i was over the moon about because it's a lovely ward and my gran was on there recently and my brother's friend would probably be my mentor! so today I had to go to hospital and have a 1 to 1 with my tutor, so i thought i would pop up to the ward and introduce myself and find out who my mentor was and talk about my shift and stuff-which is what we get told to do AT LEAST one week before you start.....
So i get there and they haven't heard of me! and they can't take me on any way because they already have 3 other students!
So i go back to my tutor and she says the place wasn't confirmed after all! and i do not have a placement at all! she told me i'll have to speak to someone else tomorrow!
BUT- apparently there are no other placements available in North Devon now so i'll get further afield maybe to Exeter or Bath! I refuse to do a 12 hour shift and then drive home! They say if we have to, to get a B&B and they will fund it back within 10weeks! I cannot afford to have to fund for a B&B outright for two night a week for three months and wait that long to get it back! plus i find out today that they don't actually give it back at all! How dangerous is that? a 16 hour day?
Would you want to be in the hands of a student Nurse who has done a full 12 hour shift? i wouldn't! plus a student Nurse died recently from driving home from a 12 hour shift....does that not make them think more?
There is a girl from Oakhampton that is placed at Fremington Manor now! how stupid, when i was there and there are so many places to go at Oakhampton!?
The other day the woman who organises it (or doesn't i should say) Said that there is not enough places in Exeter for the Exeter lot so they will be placed some where else (even though alot of them have moved there to be nearer) and then there are not enough places in North Devon for us so we will be put in Exter!? how do they work that out? If there arn't enough places for them, then how can we be put there!? When we voice our opinion she actually says 'it's not my problem, find your own way of doing it' or 'i don't care'
So now they have two weeks to sort out my placement and for me to then meet my mentor and shit! I am sooooooooo angry! and they WILL hear about tis tomorrow. I am going to write a letter of complaint to Plymouth about the woman organising it and see if any one else on the course wants to add anything. I might even right a letter to the MP about how shit the course is.
Exeter University is supposed to be one of the best in the country....WHATEVER! They cry out of Nurses but we get treated like shit? When I went to see my tutor today she looked at my school grades and said they were shit! um....i had an A, B and four C's!!! how do people get a way with bringing other people down like that? that's just what i need when i have essay's due in and exams to do! cheers then!
