this disappoints me greatly. have you become so jaded that you don't want to see one of the best bands from the 80's? yes, I know it's not edge anymore. yes, I'm sure it's all about money. and I'm ok with that. I was there in 89. I was there at what was apparently "the last show as a band". I don't know about you, but I ride my bike to start today. still. just like I did 16-17 years ago. I still get those same feelings when I hear those trumpets blare. that same chill up the spine at the harmonica. I still stage dive to feel alive. so I'm not going to "just let it go" and I really wish you wouldn't either.
I still love my old GB records, of course. I'm not saying stop liking the band as they were.
Personally, I just feel that most hardcore bands have a time and a place, and then should move on. Watching a bunch of 40 year-olds try to recapture their lost youth on stage (and charging The Kids for it) just wears me thin. Especially since they're all at a different place in their life than where they were when they wrote the original songs. How much meaning can a song have when you no longer believe in what you're screaming?
It's purely just my opinion, not an indictment of those who feel differently. We cool.
i don't know about you but alot of the issues i was dealing with 16 years ago still remain issues with me. It seems like all I've done is add more of them. SO i for one don't know if its fair to say if people are at a different place than they were when they wrote those songs. Walter still plays music to this day and he wrote those songs. In a recent interview (before a reunion was even a thought) walter said Start Today is still a record that he is proud of writing.
"Start Today" is a motto that you should follow whether you are 14 or 40.
Again, I can speak only for myself. If I was still dealing with the same petty issues now that I was when I was 15 years old, I'd be in pretty bad shape.
