This is a gift for all you music lovers out there in friend-land.
This took me a while to put together because I kept changing my mind about the songs I wanted to use for it lol.
Eventually I chose these songs for varied reasons to capture; if not their pairing perfectly; then moments from their
lives or the feel of a given situation. I guess you could call this sort of a collection of moments caught in time... without further ado....
A brief warning for Dial-up users. the following post is image intensive and will take a little while to load for you. I've also provided a link to a parred down version of this FanMix in wav format which will be quicker and easier for you to download. It is also a good way to 'preview' the FanMix to see if you want to download the MP3 version. I for one
prefer the MP3 version; which also includes copies of all the artwork, which the 'light version' doesn't have. If you download the light version, I'd suggest that you copy the art below and add it to whichever folder you're keeping the FanMix in. Enjoy!
All It Takes Is Once: A Spike/Angel FanMix
Track 01: Daughtry: What About Now?
Can Angel and Spike heal the rift between them; speak the words that they've
been afraid to say; before the army unleashed by the Senior Partners
steals their last chance away and one of them is dust?
Personal Note: This man is gorgeous and can sing his heart out and this song is
practically a Spangel theme song! It's all about being afraid to take a chance and
trying to find the courage to just say the words and let what happens, happen, all
for the chance to be HAPPY and IN LOVE. You just have to find the words....
Track 02: Caleb Kane: Go Mad
Spike just wants to go mad when Angel refuses to acknowledge what he's always
known; they're bound together, for good or bad, in ways that no one else could ever
understand. They may not get along but when the final call is given they're going to
face their enemies back to back.
Track 03: Beth Orton: The Devil Song
Angelus will always be part of Angel and Spike knows that despite any act of
man or Gods to confine him that there is always a way out and he'll come for
what belongs to him....
Track 04: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: I Feel It Now
There are only memories and mourning left for the survivors of the alley.
Personal Note: I absolutely fell in love with this song when I was watching Bones.
It is just lovely but at the same time it's filled with an incredible sense of mourning
and loss. When I intially heard this song the first thought in my head is it was the perfect
song for aftermath of NFA, if one of the fanged ones was left alone.... I however couldn't bring
myself to consider the possibility, too depressing, so I let myself talk me into having it be
an Ode to lost friends instead... still it's always in the back of my mind, the 'sight' of Spike falling
to his knees in Angel's ashes and watching the rain fall and steal even that last remnant away....
Track 05: Melissa Etheridge: Breathe
Angel finally has what he's been fighting to have for so long; he's human...
But what does he do with his humanity in a world that doesn't favor the weak; when
his only remaining family, Spike and Connor, have more in common with each
other than with him; in a world where the woman he's convinced himself he's
in love with has moved on with someone else? Even living can be a curse if you're not
sure that you have anything to live FOR.
Track 06: Johnny Hollow: Dark Thing (Obsession Remix)
Their love may have been born of darkness and too twisted by obsession to
survive in the light of their souls... but that doesn't make the overwhelming need
or the love just go away.... You just need what you need sometimes.
Track 07: Slaid Cleaves: Bring It On
Destiny is fickle and across a thousand years, countless lives, some souls will
always find each other on their journies, and make a connection.
When everything they knew is dust and memory, they'll still have each other,
and the war they've chosen to wage against evil.
Track 08: Trespasser William: Lie In The Sound
All he that he's ever wanted to hear is the sound of his name on his lips when it's
not followed an insult. Is that too much to ask?
Track 09: Beth Orton: Ohh Child (Short version)
From the moment of his 'birth' Angelus has taken care of Spike in one way or
another, for good or bad, could a soul ever truly steal that instinct to protect away?
Not everything in life is ruled by logic; least of all the heart.
Track 10: Psychadelic Furs: Here Come Cowboys
Sometimes they wonder if they're Vampires or caricatures in some bizarre
soap opera life.... Can't someone else be the calvary for once?
Peronal Note: I chose this song because it's just so WAY over-the-top. Plus it was playing
on my computer when The Girl In Question was playing on the TV in the corner and
I thought I would pass out laughing during the Vespa scene. Seriously combining this
song and Vespa scene is a recipe for laughter. So I call it fate....
I almost chose to use Aqua's Cartoon Heroes for this one but in the end this song
just fits these two so well. It's properly irreverent and I can just see them dusting
themselves off after a fight and knowing they're not getting paid enough to have to
deal with this and wondering if they'll ever get to have lives... or fun.
Track 11: Bad Company: Bad Company
Spike's destiny was always written in blood. It was blood that ultimately
attracted the one that would end his life, blood that would transform him into
a new existence, and blood that would make him one of the most fearsome
Vampires in history. What can you say... he was just born to be 'bad' and he's
damned good at it!
Personal Note: It's a little strange I know to include a song that references the
unsouled Spike but since he's never seen fit to deny that part of him who am I to do it?
Track 12: Orienda Fink: Bloodlines
Family is still family... even when they hurt you, deny you, make you bleed.... An
ode to Angelus and William/Spike.
Track 13: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds: Messiah Ward
An Ode to Angelus, ( unsouled and post-NFA) as he sits watching the ruins of the
Watchers' Council burning to the ground; a fitting funeral pyre for the Childe lying
wounded across his lap because so called friends refused his
request for help and now only his poor Boy remains. There will be blood for his pain.
Track 14: Josh Groban: Remember When It Rained
Angel has won his reward and been given another life with no memory of his old
one but Spike remembers as he watches over his mortal Sire from the shadows.
An ode to the alley scene and Spike remembering when it rained and he still had a
Sire....
Track 15: Sam Phillips: Black Sky
Betrayed by friends they thought that they could trust, Spike and Angel fall in the
alley only to be reborn as Humans with a score to settle....
Track 16: Kill Hannah: Crazy Angel
Angel is always getting Spike in one mess or another as he struggles to protect
and love his mortal Sire; who is determined to still play the Hero whether or not
he's built for it anymore. Regardless, Spike will do what he can and love Angel in
whatever guise the powers see fit to cast him in; Human or Vampire.
Track 17: Vienna Teng: Gravity (Lake Remix)
Tormented by dreams of a man that he's never seen before; frightening images
of fighting and sudden searing pain, William Sterling is man in search of who he is.
Haunted by the handsome private detective that keeps turning up in time to save his
life from the monsters born of his nightmare and who knows way too much about him....
Angel has been trying to find his reincarnated Childe before the forces of Wolfram & Hart or
the Watchers Council can find the resurrected Champion and use him for their own ends... and
steal him away from the Sire that has been waiting to reclaim him and unlock his powers....
Track 18: Sisters of Mercy: Detonation Boulevard
The battle has been lost and the world has been plunged into an apocalyptic
transformation as Demons swarm over the face of the planet decimating the
surface of the planet. Even in the darkest of times there are those who keep
fighting... even if they've been betrayed by former allies and left to fend alone
Spike and Angel will carry on their fight as they take the fight to the streets.
Track 19: The Who: Behind Blue Eyes
This one is pretty self-explanatory if you listen to the words so I'm not going to improve
on what greater writers than I have written. An Ode to Spike.
Personal Note: This HAS to be the most overused song in this fandom I know and you
have no idea how I agonized over whether or not to include it here. Iin the end I obviously
did include it. After all it must be popular because it's so fitting right? So here it is, in the version
by The Who, who can play it like no one else EVER.
Track 20: Tina Dico: One
They've bought the greatest evil on the plane to its knees and Angel realizes that
only one person can love the Demon in him as well as the Man. The one that has been
in his life all along and who knows him in all his guises.
What more do we need in life
than someone that knows the ugliest parts of us but loves us anyway and sticks by us?
Okay so that is my FanMix, I hope this makes sense to you like it does to me and that you enjoy it.
The Download Links:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/f67df7 Dial-Up friendly Version; (No Artwork)
WinZip:
http://www.winzip.com To Unzip the file if you don't have it. Free version available at the website but I'd recommend using the WinRAR program if you don't have it as it can uncompress zip files as well as do some other
helpful functions.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/64csrb MP3 & Art Version
WinRar:
http://www.winrar.com/ To Unpack the file if you don't have it. This program is similar to Winzip but better
(And you can still get it free too). I used this program to compress the MP3Art Version so you'll need this to open it
if you don't have it already. I'd recommend keeping it once you have it though. It's great for creating archives
and does a better job compressing files than WinZip.
If you're a Dial-up user and want to attempt to get the MP3ART version, I would suggest that you use a download
manager like
WackGET. I was careful to chose a download service that would allow you the use of a D/L manager so
that you can restart downloads as necessary until you get the whole file. Just a word of warning though for Dial-up
users, it will possibly take quite a while; and a few restarts for you to get the file; possibly 2 to 3 days spaced out
depending on your connection speed. Before you do that I would suggest downloading the light version first and
making sure that you like it before you go for the large version.

I'm afraid that I'm super busy of late so I may not have time to upload individual song tracks but you can ask. I'll do it
time allowing but due to the time crunch I have to limit it to only 2 songs per person, sorry.
Feel free to share a link to this post as it will help to keep the files alive on the service but please credit back to this journal if you share it =). And please don't share the link in any 'public' groups like yahoogroups.
Hugs & Happy Holidays,
