Icebreaker

So, I conned Jack into staying until Saturday. He wouldn't have been able to leave until today because of the ice. I pointed out to him that he wouldn't possibly get home in time for anything on Friday, so he should just stay until Saturday. Now I feel bad because it's occurred to me that he'll really have to scramble to catch up. He, obviously, couldn't buy any of his textbooks here so he's behind in his classes.

But he's still here, so that makes me happy beyond reason.

Because of the ice, we've been mostly homebound. Last night we had to venture out, in the car, to get survival supplies. We (and by "we" I mostly mean Jack because I'm a big pussy) spent at least ten minutes getting all the ice off the car. How my mother lives in Oklahoma and doesn't own an ice scraper, I will never understand. We ended up having to break the ice using pieces of ice. It looked like a black and white horror movie. Jack was in his black trenchcoat surrounded by nothing but white ice. He had a huge block of it in his hand and was plunging it down on the car. Ice sprayed everywhere. It was a massacre.

We stopped at Burger King for food and all was well until it came time to leave. I slipped while I was trying to unlock the car and couldn't get enough traction to get back to my feet. Jack had to come over and drag me up.

My house is on a hill. We had to walk over to our neighbor's yard and use their fence to climb into the yard. We fell. A lot. Finally, we decided to just throw all of our groceries in to yard so we'd have more free hands. We tossed them and they slid a good five feet or so. I kept imagining that they'd just slide all the way back into the street and we'd have to skate over to retrieve them.

Ice levels are always my favorite on videogames.

the weather, good things
