So, I'm sitting here watching Bring It On. Shut up, it's a good movie. Anyway, I'm watching it and remembering how much I loved Kirsten Dunst. She's cute, quirky, and all those other adorable things people say. I really adored her.
But then she decided to play Mary Jane.
There's a long list of actresses that annoy me because they accepted a part that they know nothing about. Kirsten Dunst, Halle Berry, Jennifer Gardner, just to name a few, were given the opportunity to play fucking legends-- Mary Jane, Storm, and Elektra respectively. These characters have been some of the longest running crushes, role models, heroes, and inspirations for geeks everywhere. There are female comic book fans that would have done anything for those roles, that know everything possible about the characters, that have grown up seeing and reading about them, but the parts were given to big name actresses that have never even walked into a comic store.
Why?
When I see Kirsten Dunst as MJ, all I see is a whiny shell of what she could be. Halle Berry turns an African Goddess into a vaguely emo, completely mediocre girl who can't deliver a joke. And Elektra... oi, I'm not even going to touch that one.
So, a plea to all the actresses out there that I love; Please stop taking parts you don't give a shit about. I want to continue to love you.
Slight edit and side note:
My phone will not be answered until this weekend. I dropped v3xt0r and... he is no more. The LCD screen cracked in, like, a million places and is now leaking everywhere, making the whole screen black.
