IRISH POLITICS
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you a CEMENTGATE - and yes, there really was an actual gate involved. Insert ironic comment here. Why all the hullabaloo about a bank, you ask (if you're not from Ireland, that is)?
When the recession hit, the Irish goverment decided to bail some banks out of trouble. It was subsequently found some banks were more fiscally responsible than others - guess which side of the fence Anglo Irish fell on? Three years later they have their hand out again for 34 billion. The government says the bank is too big to allow to fail. Some are now asking if the bank is actually too big to save. More about it here

I got a jury duty summons this morning. I'm especially looking forward to the pissy cheerios expression on the PTB's face at work, when I tell them this.
On the fun side, I've decided that I'm going to go to Octocon this year. It'll be my first time, but with George R.R. Martin as their guest of honour, it promises to be a lot of fun.
