I love that clip, because it's their first real meeting -- interacting without playing roles and as just themselves. And they give us a fantastic mirror of it at the end of the season where she called him to come over and yanks him up to her bedroom as he jokes around. TVD is really very good at giving you contrasting moments & images like that.

[Grins] Another linking moment (for me) was how earlier in the season, as Caroline is getting ready for the first Founders day party, Damon says he wants Caroline to wear blue because it's his favourite colour - and then, later in the series, when Elena descends the steps at the Miss Mystic Falls competition wearing the blue dress...frankly, I was wondering where the hell was the fic???
