Your eyes are feeling very heavy...

I swear, even the slightest hint of a sunny day, and I turn into a floppy feline, looking for a corner to nap in...

But now for more entertaining news - well, for me anyways! I've discovered pseudopod.org, a site which specialises in making audio recordings of horror and fantasy short stories. I blame this on Maura McHugh (splinister), an Irish horror writer, who mentioned at p-con she had a story uploaded to the site. I, being the insufferable nosy parker that I am, had to have a listen: The Bone Mother is wonderful stuff and vividly described, with great dialogue and a crafty plot, involving Vlad, that conniving Moldovian, trying to outwit Baba Yaga. Go listen - it's freeeeee!

ETA: Random observation, but this story would make a really excellent comic!

Which brings me to the bread trail I followed from pseudopod! Darkerprojects.com is an online audio drama site, that specialises in horror, fantasy, and sci-fi. It's very much the the work of enthusiastic amateurs working an a shoestring budget (trust me on this, I've been on the other end of that string, and I know a shoe when I hear it :-P) and I'm currently mowing through their Tales from the Museum (free, peoples, free!) It's done in a very cheesy Sam Spade detective style, and some of the plot and dialogue is very hammy....and yet, I can't stop listening to it! it's strangely addictive, like pizza and chips. You know it ain't good for you, and you should probably be listening to Shakespeare instead...but it tastes so good...

I haven't tried the other serials yet. I'll let you know when I get to them (because this is urgently important stuff!)
