Stolen from tygermama

To celebrate International Women's Day, name a woman in one of my fandoms and I will attempt a drabble about her.

If you give me a keyword or lyric, I will use it if it sparks something for me.

Fandoms: Many and various, and I'll even throw in a crossover if you want :-P

I seemed to be incapable of writing a drabble at the moment, I'm afraid! Sorry about that, but I hope you like it all the same.

The Witchblade flared, sending Sara's mind in a spin as she descended the steps into the club. The images were confusing and blurred; a stone castle, filled with love and dread, an angry mob screaming for vengeance and a man with chill, hungry eyes and a smooth dark voice, that murmured words like family and fealty. Words that held on like chains.

The visions swirled and bled away, and Sara felt her eyes travel to the svelte figure perched at the bar, swirling the wine in her glass.

Not wine, blood, the Witchblade whispered, and Sara shivered.

“Detective Pezzini,” she said , as Sara approached. “I've been expecting you.”

Sara gave her a stubbornly blank look, refusing to show panic, but she knew she wasn't fooling her for a second. “Janette DuCharme, I presume,” she said aloud.

“Guilty,” she purred, a dark humour in her eyes as she raised her glass to lips.

Sara looked away as the Witchblade burned. “They told me down at the precinct I'd find Detective Knight here.”

“You're here for Nicholas?” She pouted. “How disappointing, I thought we'd might catch up on old times.”

Sara frowned. “Excuse me?”

“Ah,” Janette murmured, “I thought you... my mistake.” She shrugged, and gestured at a curtain in the shadows. “The second door on the left. I'd advise you to not wander off the path.”

Sara eyed her before backing away warily, but something stopped her before she passed through the curtain. She turned to look at Janette again, only to find her eyes already pinned on her. Her mouth dried. “Have we met before?”

Janette's lips curved upwards. “In another lifetime, perhaps.”

For a breath, they just stared at each other, and the Witchblade suddenly went quiet, seemingly satisfied. With a nod, Sara parted the curtain and went in search of the Detective they'd said had information on the perp she was investigating. Something told her she and Janette had unfinished business, but she wasn't in any hurry to find out what it was.

She had a funny feeling time was on their side.

Sorry I haven't gotten to this sooner. I've been kind of all over. This is lovely! I forget just what the Witchblade is like when I haven't see it in a while. Gave a nice shiver.

[Grins] I went all gothic, didn't I? I'm glad you liked it. It was the first time I've written either character, so it was a bit of a challenge.
