Autumn slips in like a lover between the covers,
Cold feet against bare calves that wakes you up,
And snaps you into the present moment,
Then lulls you back into a dream by pressing
It's warmth into you,
And her hair is in your face,
Smelling of dried leaves,
And her breath is morning air,
Crisp on the back of your neck,
And she kisses your eyelids in the morning,
With the sky blue promise of possibility,
And leaves you crying yourself to sleep in the evening,
With the memories of past magic drying on your cheeks,
Wondering if those moments are gone forever,
Or burning brightly in days to come
