How exciting for you! What's the background picture?

Wasn't sure if I should point it out (but I thought you'd want to know), you've got a missed space on the forth line 'IT,EVEN' that you might want to fix before you send it. Sorry.

The background pic is a fractual/abstract representing a wormhole. Which the main character, Cass, creates to access the alien world.

Oh no, thanks for pointing it out! I read over that thing so many times, but there's always something. Hence the reason I order a single proof copy before the big 'release', lol! Plus, though I wanted to share my good news, several sets of others' eyes on this before a publish is always a good idea. So far, you're the only one who caught it (or said anything, lol!) After I posted it around, I also found an unnecessary comma I though I'd already edited out. Sigh, that's okay. Good thing my PS skills are getting better.

I thought a tunnel/spiral of sorts!

Years of working with text in design I can spot a missing (or extra) space a mile away, I can't turn it off now. ;)

Getting something you've created back from the printers is one of the best feelings in the world - enjoy it and congratulations!

I know! I can't wait to hold it in my hands, errors and all! The virtual online editor makes it look really great, but there's nothing like a physical copy to make the final decision on if it looks good or not. Should be here by Fri or Mon at the latest.

I suck at graphic design. I'm a trad. artist since toddlerhood, so digital is slow for me but I'm getting better. If fact, I've already gone back and edited that error by 'erasing and creating a new comma' with the pixels. Quicker and easier than doing it over. The comma is just moved a bit closer to the previous letter, opening up the space from the 'E'. It should make it visually acceptable. And I edited out the extra comma and spot healed the area. No one else will ever know, muahahahaha!

Good, I'm glad the wormhole/tunnel isn't too abstract. Though I didn't want it to be super obvious. The whole idea was to make people think, "oh, what is that? I want to know more." Then as they read it, they learn how it relates to the story.

LOL, yeah graphic and text design isn't something I've done a lot of, but my learning curve isn't as steep as it used to be.

Thanks, I'm trying to be patient about the waiting. I'm hoping to have it by this Monday at the latest. It'll be the first time I'll ever hold one of my stories in full novel print format in my hands. *sigh* As easy as e-books are, I really want to do prints of paperback with it. Makes it more real. Plus, Lightning Source can also do hardback (if I ever decide I want a future book HB) And I'm still waiting to hear back from Tor. I figure if they love it, it won't matter if I go forward with my self-publishing. (50 Shades) and if they don't love, then it still doesn't matter.

Hey for a 'PS virgin' you've done a good job creating the image, it's also got a slightly magical/fantasy feel with the lighting effects used.

Typography is such a tricky beast. So many subtleties and unwritten rules, the main thing is almost to forget they are letters/words, view them as shapes and the space they occupy (and the space they don't), so many fonts are centuries old, each letter hand drawn to form a consistent family, beautiful objects in their own right. I think people forget that and don't give letter-forms the respect they are due, they are an art form. And then you have to reign it all back in and keep it legible, it's a fine line, the more you work with type, the better you become. It's a lot of fun.

*LOL - Can you tell it's something I'm quite passionate about?!* ;)

That's going to be some feeling holding a finished novel you've written in your hands! Be very proud of yourself.
