Had an enkai tonight. Was good... except I spent most of it dreaming up plans for my other school. Which probably isn't a good sign. But ye gods, I miss those students ( Read more... )

Some Absinthe tastes more like licorice than others. I dislike the black jellybean flavour, so I steer clear of the Pernod Absinthe in particular. The Czech ones are less licorice-y from memory.

Um... The label on this one was a flying unicorn. ^.^ A friend of mine bought a couple of different bottles in Osaka and was generous enough to share them, so I don't know what the brands were.

But the more expensive one definitly tasted like licorice.

It was probably a French-style one, rather than an Bohemian-style one. I wen't and checked my fuzzy recollection, and yep, the Czech ones are definitely made with less fennel and anise.

I'm not familiar with the flying unicorn one!
(I've drunk a lot of absinthe. Cranberry juice or pink grapefruit juice is my preferred mixer)

I believe the name sounded French, though I don't recall it exactly. We drink it in the old sugar cube-and-water style.

Tried 'Death in the Afternoon' (mixing it with champagne) but the consensus was that was gross. :P

..I need a drinking icon. XD

Don't get the 'king of spirits'. It's expensive because it's well marketed and recognised, but it's actually nothing like proper absinthe.

Then again, I really want to taste black absinthe, despite the aniseed, just because of the colour, even though I know it'll be awful.

Everyone needs a drinking icon. I also want a 'food porn' icon. But that'd mean upgrading my account, and I'm happy with my basic.
