/whine
I enjoy teaching for the most part. But I honestly hate first period classes. Even though I get to school at 8 and first period doesn’t start till 8:30, I still don’t like teaching then. Instead, I prefer to sit and nurse my coffee and eat a little snack (since I don’t eat breakfast at home), and plot what I’m going to do lesson-wise that day and/or week.
At Hiketa, it’s not such a big deal because I live close by and normally get there on time. But in my other school, I have to bike almost 30 minutes. I don’t usually get there till about 8:10-ish, and then I’m sweaty, exhausted, and occasionally soaked if it’s been raining. I’m either hot or frozen too, depending on the weather. I need the time to change my clothes, get a drink, and SIT for a while. And yet, they almost always make me teach first period there! I hate it! Even worse is when they do that to me with back-to-back classes. >_>
Today I had to teach first, second, AND third period classes. Not fun. Thankfully, this was at Hiketa. I rarely have first period classes here and I usually have more time between my arrival and the start of first period. I got to have my coffee and snack before breaching the deep. Plus, the teacher and classes here are more genki and participate more. It’s not so much like pulling teeth, so I can handle it. But I’m really dreading going back to my other school and being made to face those goddamn first periods on a regular basis again…
