I had such a great time at Rock It yesterday. Chris and Sara picked me up at around 2 and we headed off. It was bloody hot when we got there and the walk from the carpark left us all dripping with sweat. A Boost Smoothie and a quick stop under a tree soon fixed that and we wandered down and sat next to the sound tent. Faker were..Faker. They were entertaining, but nothing mind blowing. Next up were Birds of Tokyo and they were about the same. The Music were up next (I think?) and they were fucking awesome! I LOVED everything about their set. The music was great, the singer was dynamic and danced around the stage like a crazy man. I really enjoyed them.
The Fratellis were cool, but I couldn't really enjoy them because I was concentrating on finding the right moment to ask the security guard if I could come in the sound tent for Kings Of Leon. I succeeded (he said I "looked decent", I took that to mean that I wasn't high as a kite, and was dressed in normal human clothes instead of being spray painted orange and wearing a leotard tucked into high-waisted hotpants..)
There were platforms along the inside of the barriers to the sound tent and when the band started we were allowed to stand on them which put us a good 2 foot higher than everyone else. It was the best concert experience of my life. Not because of the band (although I do quite like them) but because of the sound and view from were we stood. Kings Of Leon themselves were actually fairly boring in terms of performance etc. They didn't really move at all and although they sounded great there was something lacking (not that you could tell from the crowds reaction!) but it was still awesome to see them, and from such a great spot :D
I didn't realise the video off my little camera would actually turn out halfway decent so I only took one, but you can see it here
