New school year. New high school.
New everything, Dawn thought to herself, shoving her books into her locker. That included a new locker, new books, new school supplies…
“Greetings, fair lady.”
New teenage cretins to harass me, she thought as she turned to look at the deliverer of the bad pickup line.
“Hi,” she managed to the overly blonde guy that was leaning against her locker. There was another guy standing nearby, hands in his pockets, looking like he wanted to be anywhere but here.
“You’re the new girl, right?”
“That’s me. I’m Dawn,” she said.
“I’m Dick. That’s Beaver. We just thought we’d stop by and welcome you to Neptune High.”
She stared at him, waiting for the punch line. Dick? Beaver? Finally, she was forced to face the fact that maybe, just maybe, “Wait, you’re serious? Dick and Beaver?”
A slow grin spread over Dawn’s face. This school year might be interesting after all, even without a Hellmouth.
Moronic looking or not, she was going to have to befriend this guy and the other one, too; just so that she could tell Faith she had friends named after male and female naughty bits the next time they talked.
