The entire country of Japan got together and sent me...
No, actually my local post office is... Oh, how to phrase this? Unexpectedly backwater? So although I'll lay good money that the company name is written in English characters on the package, "Japan" is what they identified it by.
When I have a package from another country, it stands out in their mind because it is such a rarity. I find it hard to believe in this age of eBay, but so they've told me, and I've heard with my own ears: "Hey, where'd we put that foreign package?" "It's over there." Implying that not only is there only one foreign package in the building at the time (which I can believe), but that it's so unusual that more than one person has noted and remembered it out of the hundreds or even thousands of packages they process every week.
Wow.
In other news, my kimono are apparently here. Not here as in home here, but here as in city here, at least. I'll have to pick them up from the post office tomorrow on my way home from work. If precedent holds, they won't have a long search for the package, though. ;) That's pretty good for freight shipping. I haven't gotten used to (or even posted a picture of) the quilt I've got hanging in its place for the time being. :)
