Good-bye, Night Drives Home From Center City

Aug 09, 2012 00:02

Went up to see Anna for the last time before I leave tonight. We did our usual stuff--went out for dinner at the Belgian Cafe with Dan, got ice cream from Philly Flavors, and then hung out at the apartment with Tomas, watching the Olympics. Dan had to go back home to Pottstown, so Anna, the cat, and I had the place to ourselves. I tried her mozzarella on tomato dish, which was awesome, and we researched V-neck shirts like the one waitress at the Belgian had been wearing.

I ended up leaving early, around 11, because Anna had to pack for a trip she's taking tomorrow and I was falling asleep on the couch. I took the new Fiona Apple CD she'd burned for me and several good hugs and headed back home, savoring the last time (for now, at least) that I'd drive home from her place late at night. Visiting Anna (and often Greg, AJ, and sometimes Dave) like that has been my usual thing for the last three years, and it's really sad to see it go. I literally said good-bye to all the major streets and landmarks on the way home.

Gah, why can't I just have everything I want at once?!

Two things came in today: my Hero of Void hoodie, which is so much cooler and more comfortable than I'd anticipated; and my 2TB external hard drive. Gonna start backing up my shit onto it now, actually.

philly, endings, friends
