Getting good work done on this novel here. Still freaking out a little bit that the first 100 pages are DUE in about three weeks, but I feel a lot better about what I'll be submitting.
Leslie was telling me about this 50 Shades of Grey nonsense last night, and it was freaking terrible. It's humorously bad, but also sort of depressing, and when I read stuff like that enough I start to get self-conscious about my own writing (Is this TOO much interiority? Is this something relevant? Will someone think this is a juvenile response? Is this escalation earned? Is the tone here appropriate?).
Felt much better today when it hit me that I had a handy motif staring me in the face that makes the opening paragraph I'm really partial to relevant.
My goal for this weekend is to finish up Chapter 2's editing and maybe start Chapter 3. So, like 30 or 40 pages total for the whole week. Pretty good. If I keep that pace up, I can use the final week and some days to obsessively go back over the pages and make sure they're pass-worthy.
Today's weather is gorgeous. Perfect. Went walking at the park for a couple miles and then hit up Staples for badly needed printer paper and black ink (my color ink only has to be replaced once every 18 months, but every semester I go through at least two black cartridges).
Movies tonight with Meg!
