And Then He Ate All of the Stromboli

Sep 30, 2011 22:20

I am so tired and so hungry (at least I was before the Stromboli) and so. damn. busy.

Did my phone interview today for Interac and it went pretty well, though I felt like my responses to stuff like "What do you like about Japan" and "What do you like about being around kids" could've been better thought out. I dunno. Those are the kinds of things that I find difficult to explain because I feel like they're just...likes. I like Japan. I like kids. Ergo, teaching in Japan job. I'll tell you though, it's been a long time since I was that nervous about something.

Had lunch with Shivs and Noreen today too at the sushi tabehoudai. It felt way too short, but at least I got to see her. <3

Met up with Sensei after class yesterday. I sort of thought Joan was going to set something on fire...first one of the guys who was supposed to distribute didn't show up and then Stephen King wrote a book about the JFK assassination and said that it was Oswald working alone...I'm surprised she didn't have a rage stroke. But anyway, we went to Reading Terminal Market so she could shop and sat and talked about my future for awhile. Her advice is to focus on JET and Interac and so on for right now since that will get me a visa and provide me with money to cover my basic 生活 needs and while I'm there I just have to network so I can end up in a more permanent position. She did encourage me to go to areas of growth rather than stagnation, but that's easier said than done when I'm competing with a bajillion other people.

I should just make Leslie happy and focus on getting placed in/near Fukuoka. Though Fukuoka is awesome and close to mainland Asia, where I have a network of friends. We'll see.

So yeah, Inoue-sensei reaffirmed my self-worth and praised my life decisions and told me not to worry about my anxiety because I'll be fine no matter where I end up.

I thought I had so much to say but I guess I don't. On Wednesday I was sad I had to leave the Draft Horse and Tiffany and Kris for work. Oh well. :( Leslie also called from Thailand this week which was exciting.

Gettin' a 2% raise this week, what what!
