And Here I Thought They Were All Gay

So AJ, Taylor, Greg, Matt and I went to see Black Swan today at the 2nd St Ritz. I love going down to that part of the city, but I rarely make the trip since the trains from my apartment on weekends are scarce and driving in the historic section blows worse than a virgin at Bible camp, especially this time of year.

The movie was good though, if a little intense. It was the best movie about a bulimic, schizophrenic, repressed, possibly closeted homosexual ballerina I've ever seen. It also answered the dual question of what Natalie Portman and Winona Ryder have been doing lately.

Though there was a sweet looking noodle shop next door to the theater, afterward we had to run to the library by the art museum so Matt could pick up a couple of hard-to-find books for his paper. I waited with the car to make sure it wasn't ticketed or towed since we were down in the police station lot beneath the Whole Foods. I sat there, looking up at the brick apartment building on 21st, thinking about how I used to want to live there when I was a kid. It made me think about having my own apartment in Tokyo, and going out on my tiny balcony to look out over the city. Maybe with my corgi.

It was such a happy thought.

Anyway, we hit up Potbelly for dinner and I spent the rest of today dicking around with my new found free time. I have to order some Christmas gifts still, but for the most part I have no obligations outside of packing for Japan and work, so yay!

weekend, philly, japan, cinema
