building stamina

I am no longer exhausted! Yay antibiotics! (I am taking Bactrim, though, so I have to watch out for the sun. No problems yet.) Still feeling debilitated a bit, so I'm doing gentle walking.

Rent turned in with sweetie: three extra blocks.

The bus stop I used at school is not really farther away, but it's a nicer walk than the most efficient choice; it lets me walk through a little bit of the UW Farm, which is always fun. Today I found a red hazelnut on the ground along that path.

There are regular green-colored hazelnut bushes near my building, but I haven't seen a red one around there. I poked around in the farm area a little more. Usually I'm wary of getting plant pests on me, since it's a disaster if they get into our experiments, but I didn't need any fresh material today. There's the walnut tree and chestnut tree, which I knew about, and hey a red tree over there -- I headed toward it. On my way there I found the bees! We had bees, I knew, but I hadn't met them personally before this. (I bet they had something to do with the pear in the right foreground.)

The red tree was unrelated to the hazelnut, though. Elusive bush, I will seek you again later.

And at lunch I ate outside, got an ILL book from Suzzallo, and walked down by way of the rose garden, Newton apple tree, and medicinal herb garden. The loveliest bed in the herb garden right now was the one with this Lupinus mutabilis and those great little inside-out flowers in the background. It's also the bed with Aztec sweet herb and stevia together, which reminds me I meant to look into why they're each sweet; the sweet herb tastes way better to me.

The lupine has a lovely sweet fragrance. It reminded me of the mountaintop lupines from the Herbarium Foray I went on. My lunch may have run a little long today.
