Momentous, perhaps. But sad?

Telegrams didn't cease to exist because of calamity. They were simply superceded by better technology. Telegrams have no *reason* to exist in 2006, as every possible function they once served is now served better and probably cheaper by something else.

150 years is a pretty good run. :)

Nostalgia often makes me sad. As does the passing of a trailblazer. Telegrams were the IM of their day, you know? ;-)
