Yes, I am still here. I know I have not posted to LJ in long, long, longity-long-long time... in actuality, almost exactly 2 years. Damn you, Facebook and other distractions. I am doing okay... finally finishing getting over a nasty head cold. Last you may have read, I was working as a temp over at Virtua Healthcare in south Jersey, hoping to get hired out permanently. That never happened. At the end of 2009, they let me go. But as Marie says in "The Sound of Music", when the Lord closes a door, somewhere he opens a window. My window was Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. My agency hooked me up with them in February 2010, surprisingly again to fill in temporarily for someone on maternity leave. This time, however, a couple helpdesk people had interviewed to get a position on desktop service, and one of them got it, which opened up a spot on the helpdesk. I applied, and lo and behold in April I got it... a permanent full-time position paying better than I did before I was laid off in 2008. Not only that, but after 90 days, I volunteered to become a hybrid analyst (meaning helping out with the servers in addition to helpdesk), so I got a bump up in pay for that, and then also for moving to 2nd shift. I've been here permanently now for a year and a half, enjoying it, and making close to $50K a year, plus good overtime. What else... got a new Nissan Versa which I'm paying through the nose for and a one-year-old coonhound named Sparticus, or Sparty for short. Handsome little devil. I'll chat more soon, I pray.
