Merrily hackin' and slashin' along

I have been playing MapleQuest off and on (mostly off, actually) for the past year or so. Being an RPG fan, I enjoy the idea of a free online role playing game that is multi-player oriented and offers interaction yet lets you play and enjoy the game solo. My biggest complaint about computer RPGs anymore is that they rely on cooperative play and quests. I can only scrape up a sliver of time to play, so I can't exactly coordinate with other people to form a team. My other complaint is about games that require a subscription fee. I can understand, it costs money to keep servers running and keep staff around to fix problems and solve disputes and such, but I don't feel like shelling out $120 or $240 a year to get my game on.
That's why I was thrilled when Nexon, the company who runs MapleQuest, brought out the open beta for Mabinogi. It's a beautiful game... fully 3D game with anime-style characters and plenty of traditional RPG elements that is just fun to kill time playing. Today I collected some money by gathering some monster scrolls and freeing a villager, which also netted me a pair of gloves. I finally unlocked one skill, then used my money to buy a book, which unlocked another skill, and a money bag so I can keep large amounts of money on me when I can't get to the bank. Woot!
