staves is correct only for certain meanings. in particular you do not use it when you mean a set of people ( ... )

Haha... Thanks. Reading the entry again (directly copied from wiki), I guess it does seem that some people might use staves for a set of people.

But since staff is already a referring to a group, I thought it was pretty obvious, assuming they read the other definitions...
