Our branch decided to throw a farewell lunch for the staff who were leaving. Of course, they also included all those us who were leaving in August so that they don't need to have so many occasions (read cheapos).
It was necessary to have it so early as the 2nd earliest's last day was the next day. The earliest had already gone off without any farewell as his leave could almost give him an immediate resignation.
Of course, we had to take into account the halal needs so it was planned at the Carousel, Royal Plaza on Scotts.
It's an international buffet at $33.50+++ for lunch on weekdays. However, I think the food is is not worth that price. Obviously it is not comparable to The Line, but even the buffet at Cafe Brio at The Grand Corpthorne beats this hands down, especially with the 1-for-1 deals there.
I was disappointed that they did not even have oysters. They had crabs but I did not take it as it was too troublesome especially since I had arrived later than the rest due to my ride's work commitments. We were not the latest tho.
The sashimi was also a disappointment with only Salmon and Swordfish. I was hoping to get some Tuna but I think they only have a few slices for which they used on the sushi.
They also had a lot of food from those covered serving trays but I did not take much. The asparagus was cooked with some sour fruit, I think and wasn't particularly nice since the sourness overpowered the gentle sweetness of the asparagus. The beef was nice and tender but I should have gone with another sauce instead of the watery pepper sauce. The baked potato was yummy with all sorts of cream toppings available. I especially enjoyed the mustard blend pictured in the blob on top.
They also had some timsum but it was really limited. They had the pau, siew-mai and some other round pau like think which I din take. Of course, I couldn't resist and second helping of sashimi. The bbq stingray was nice but a little too spicy.
After that I has some soup. Chicken, iirc. Not bad.
I only remember the herb potato dish. Nice but a bit dry. And that is definitely not pork. It's beef with diced pumpkin.
That was the end of the food I had. A bit paiseh cos the rest were already having their coffee so I decided to start on my desert. I think they only good stuff was the desert. Nice and rich which accounts for the tightness I feel at my waist these last few days...
Finally, I had fruits and that black ayashii blob is actually chocolate pudding. Which is damn shiok. Since I took the last bit, I scooped up the chocolate sauce and drenched it in it. Yum Yum...
Since that meal, I've not had a chance to exercise yet. How to keep of the fats then?
sigh.
