(cross posted from fb & g+, in case anybody still reads just my lj anymore):
So for years I've wanted to blog about things like interactive dynamic techniques, but have never quite been sure what the intersection between what interests me and what other people would actually find useful (and bother reading a dozen paragraphs of text for). I finally resolved to actually do it, and in the process came up with the brilliant idea of just asking.
So if you would indulge me for a moment, I'd love your help to get a sense of what you think might be interesting. (Also, if you would be completely uninterested no matter what, it would be great to know so I have an idea of the control & proportions.)
1) What subject matters are interesting?
EXAMPLES:
A-- Techniques for specific, concrete things
How to have a productive argument
How to adopt a healthy routine without a lot of willpower
How to build vibrant engagement in a social group
How to connect with a traumatized person
How to create an environment that encourages something
B-- Useful abstract concepts or techniques
Foundations of why the techniques in A work
Useful concepts, such as the difference between types of problems
Like my previous G+ post about active versus passive nots
How not to engage in emotional pollution on the people around you
How to invest in cultural capital when things are going really well
Managing indirect consequences of the culture & narratives you perpetuate
How to get out of a rut
Physics of how social energy, stories & strategic framings move (eg, a mathematical way to conceptualize what's going on when the way to get what you want is to do the opposite of what's instinctive, etc)
C-- How to tell when
You're working on the wrong problem
You're missing a vital piece of information
Things are going downhill
D-- Q&A
Like, taking specific problems people ask me or have asked me, and talking through framing them and how to approach solutions
2) What usage areas would be most interesting?
EXAMPLES:
Personal strategies
Geeky spirituality
Social community strategies
Business environment
other?
3) What input formats would be most interesting?
EXAMPLES:
I prefer casual blog posts
I prefer simplified step-by-step guides (that would be oversimple, but I know that and can follow up on my own if I care)
I would prefer simple guides with an optional lengthy guide attached for more detailed explanations if I want them
I won't read anything longer than 140 characters
I won't read anything shorter than 140 pages, will annotated sources and all arguments linked to peer-reviewed studies
I would prefer all such content to be conveyed in games rather than text
I would only consume this content in the form of mobile games rather than live games
I prefer infographics
etc
4) Am I asking the wrong question? Any feedback on other ways of looking at this question in general?
Thanks a lot, especially if you actually respond :-)
