SD Tekken: The good the bad and the ugly Hit the link for the full article, but I'll sumerize the key points here.
Good:
- Tekken 6 is kicking ass overseas and has become the flavor of the month with lack of any new arcade games.
Bad:
- No USA release date for the arcade and only 1 arcade machine (in Houston TX) spotted
- The lack of arcade presence in the US arcades and the price of Tekken 6 ($12k!) has put a sour taste in arcade operatiors. For example when Tekken came out it was about $4k and most arcades barely broke even since the console release was 3 mos later.
Ugly:
- even if US arcades get Tekken 6, be prepared to pay an arm and a leg to play. Example in Houston TX its $1.00 per game and $10 for a card. If you live up north (Canada) be happy and pay $2.00 to play x.x
Responce:
It makes sense that the price to play will increase, companies (both Namco and arcade stores) and people will pay for it...and even when Tekken 6 comes out on the PS3, I feel like not many people can afford a PS3 (I personally know like 4 people with one) so they will be attracted to the arcade. I heard that my arcade back in Kingston is suppose to be in the running in getting one. Its a Namco owned arcade so its possible. Although in the article what troubled me was that it said the distro that supplied Namco arcades was axed awhile ago. I guess this is why atleast with Namco arcades there will be only 1 Tekken 6 machine per district. So atleast in the district I live in it would be against Albany, Poughkipsiee, Middletown, and us I believe. Does it matter to me? kinda I have a atleast 9 month wait (no date officially released) for the PS3 version so it would be nice to kinda idk play it before taking it to the console. Until then I have tekken 5 DR and a decent scene when I get back so its not a huge loss. Also have it on the PS3 and PSP so I can keep myself occupied...altho after watching one vid of Tekken 6 action damn.
