1) got an agreement to sign from Manalapan, NJ
2) Got a final interview offer from Tiburon, CA (the bastards - they used to be my first choice)
3) Got an interview from Woodland Hills, CA (just down the road a piece)
4) Sent a no thanks note to Phoenix
5) Gave a no thanks call to Bergin County
It amuses me that everything starts moving after I've given my word on moving somewhere. Of course, when we look at all the pros and cons objectively, the first choice is still the right choice - NJ, here we come.
On the local work front, they had one of the candidates in to interview yesterday. Took one of my classrooms, grabbed 3 of my grades for a sample lesson to be taught by the person and invited me to have dinner with them. I am afraid that I stared at the lady who invited me and asked, in very plain tones, "Do you really think that's a good idea?" Her reply: "Well, it's just dinner!"
They have another candidate coming in on Sunday and I may excuse myself from the premises for this excitement. I was snarly and grouchy all yesterday and that is not how I want to be.
Seriously - is there a rule that all relationships must end in tarnished expectations and lousy behavior on all sides?
