I heard that an old friend of mine had died this week. His name was Jonathan Moore. He was a comic, and was one of the funniest people i had ever seen in my life. He had appeared on The Tonight Show with Carson, and on the Letterman Show, but real success eluded him throughout his life, partly because he was so much a victim of his own self-destructive behaviour.
He was the best man at my wedding in California to a Japanese American girl, and brought the house down (mainly Japanese Americans) when he opened the best man's speech with "All Blitish Plisoners will build a blidge!"
He hurt no one in his life, except himself, but he made a lot lot of other people's lives better by making them laugh. He was a good and loyal friend, and never gave up trying to do new and different things until his death, alone on a beach in Malibu, on the 27th of last month.
This world was a better place for having had Jonathan Moore as one of its inhabitants, and i miss him terribly already. Keep making people laugh, Jonathan, wherever you are. I love you.
