This years character has spawned a few lovely ideas. About killers, and other such nice things. Anyways, depending on arsed-ness and character development, I may continue doing IC posts, or not. Heres the first, anyway.
- Discontinuity
I wake up in a room that is familiar and unfamiliar.
I know the room, but it isn't my home.
It's nighttime. The curtains are closed, but the filtered moonlight is still quite bright.
- Theres something wrong.
A thought that dissappears as soon as I think it.
Maybe I'm ill?
I should check myself out.
I head over the wall, on which hangs a mirror. As I approach it, my reflection appears in it.
- Is that really me?
Of course it is. It has my face, my hair, my clothes...no. Something is different.
- No glasses.
Thats right. My reflection isn't wearing my glasses.
As I realize this, my reflection smiles a smile devoid of warmth, and reaches forward.
- This is definately wrong.
His hand reaches the frame of the mirror, and he pulls himself out of it. My reflection...no, my double stands in front of me, smiling.
"What..." I make a meaningless statement.
My double merely smiles and reaches into his pockets.
- Danger!
Just in time, I realize what is in there.
The same things that are in my pockets.
I swiftly jump back, just in time to see the point of my dagger slide just past my nose.
"Sto.." But theres no time for words. With the speed of a beast, my double attacks me. Or should I say, I attack myself?
I barely get my daggers out in time to defend.
- This is bad.
Yeah. This is really bad. With his speed, theres no openings for me to attack. Or should I say, I can't even defend myself? Cuts start appearing on my arm, leg, shoulder...
The incessant attacks stop, and my double stands before me again. Is his smile wider? I can barely stand, yet he hasn't even broken a sweat...
"Die." Just one word, and he pierced my heart before I realized he had moved.
Well, if he's this determined, then I might as well comply.
I die.
- Discontinuity
I wake up in a room that is both familiar and unfamiliar.
I know the room, but it isn't my home.
- I feel like I'm forgetting something.
It's daytime, and the sunlight streams onto my bed.
- Something pretty momentous.
Well, whatever it was, it isn't as important as...
"All right, you maggots! The captain's got a message for you, so get your lazy arses outta bed an into the training yard, on the double!"
The Guard sergeant at the entrance to the barracks is shouting something. I think he might be shouting for the fun of it, but its still not a good idea to ignore him. I'll get up.
After about 10 minutes of waiting in the Training Yard, the Captain appears, and addresses the assembled Guards, Pathfinders and Wardens.
"At ease, men. As you may know, recently a new valley was discovered in the Tyr mountains, and, in order to secure this area, the Defenders are sending out a few expeditions to said area. I am requesting volunteers to join these expeditions - the details are on the notice board. Anyone who wishes to volunteer, please see me in my office. Dismissed!"
...
As usual, the Captain gets right to the point.
I smile. A new land, eh?
Could be worth going.
I might find something to help deal with my curse.
And if not, well, if I help colonize the area, its unlikely anyone will object to me living there, even if its just on a temporary basis.
