If I never see a whole turkey again it will be too soon.
This was the first year that I had to break our anti-thanksgiving tradition, and of course this is the year I lost my Turkey virginity. One of the good things about owning a bigger house is that I don’t have to run over to hell and back for every holiday, the bad part is that means the family comes to our place.
Mom and dad showed up Wednesday night to kick off the holiday and we all went to Chinese food, my sister and her husband ended up joining us as well. Nothing like a pregnant chick with attitude.
Thursday rolls around and now we have a house full, even my big bro made it. While everyone was watching tv and playing games I was of course in the kitchen preparing the meal with the help of my mother and even a little help from the sis. I had no idea how simple it is to cook a turkey, I just assumed there would be a lot of prep work, and then you cook it. The hardest thing I had to do was fist the turkey while pulling out the “guts”. Once dinner was done Kenny went to work setting up for Christmas, this is a yearly tradition because he always works on the day after. While Kenny was setting up Christmas my father and I took the dogs for a walk and talked. This is something that him and I rarely do, not that we don’t love each other, we are just in 2 totally different worlds.
Friday I was up by 5:45 and out the door by 6:30 am with mom and sis to fight the crowd. Mom really wanted to go to Kohls so we went… OMG I have never been to a store that had a line so long it took over an hour to check out. After mom got in line with the sis I decided to walk over to the Rack to see what was on sale there. I had enough time to browse the entire store buy a few things and still beat my mom to the car. I felt a little guilty because everything I bought was for me, but frankly I earned it.
