I was at the Gold's Gym in Panama City earlier, and the first two songs to play were "18 and Life" by Skid Row and "Silent Lucidity" for Queensryche. The tunes brought me a smile, and I figured they were worthy of a mention on here. Even though some of you readers are products of the seventies yourselves.
Now that it's official, and I don't really need to go to class another day in my life, I've been trying to figure out what to do. I'm applying to PhD programs for economics, but we'll have to see who will have me before I make my mind up. I've registered for math classes next semester so that I'll live through such a program, and I'm going to keep up my research job for Dr. Mikhail. Overall, I'm going to be that graduate brother still playing sports and living next to the house. But hell, at least I've moved out. I may sign up to work at SARC as well just for some saving money (the future seems hard to ignore at this point in life).
I've been enjoying the break from school though, and have been doing some reading for pleasure with the extra time. I've read three of the seven Narnia books, and am about to finish up "The Gunslinger" by Stephen King that was a gift from my brother. I'd never read King before, but he's a very good writer. The book's fantasy (not horror) and is a part of (yet another) seven book series called "The Dark Tower." It's terrific for those of you looking for your next book.
I've also been enjoying hanging out with Jenn now that she's got a break from schooling is well. We've been setting up my new apartment, watching movies, and drinking tons of wine. We're having a lot of fun while we can - next semester she has 3 class, 36 hours of clinical each week, and will still be working at the restaurant. Sleezy's been out of town since I've lived in his apartment, which is (and not to sleight him in the least) fabulous, as it allows me to get to feel like the place is actually mine and I'm not just a house guest.
Probably January 5 or 6 I'll be throwing my liquor bribe party for the undergraduates, and I very much look forward to that. Then there's California again in Spring Break, and I'm hoping to set up a Vegas trip over the summer. Good times seem to be ahead, and I can't wait to meet them.
