For the last year, I have been dealing with a computer situation.
In the house that I rent a room in, the router is in the room beneath me. It's about 10' away (through a hardwood floor). Horizontal distance is about 10'. Vertical distance is about 5'.
At my house, when I'm there on the weekends, the router is in the den. I set the laptop up in the dining room. My house is a split-level and the dining room is on the upper level of the left side of the house and the router is on the lower level of the right side of the house. Horizontal distance is about 45-50 feet. Vertical distance is about 9 or 10'.
9 times out of 10, my signal is about 20%. It will even drop off every once and a while. Right now it's at 40% (very rare).
Does anyone have any idea why the signal is so weak? Any help would be great.
Thanks.
