We got stars of tomorrow comments...im deffinitely happy with mine. It was weird this year because everyone did so good. so that is an accomplishment. i wish they would have commented more on shawn farrell cuz i think he was amazing in the show but u never know with these judges...i didnt understand but hey, he could still bein the running. I sure hope so...umm i rly dont have much to say but here are my comments if neone cares....

Comments: Jimmy is very talented. His character and dancing were very smooth and executed with confidence. Very talented indeed.

Comments: Jimmy, you gave such a terrific performance as Bobby! Your character was completely consistent from your singing, to your dialogue, and your dancing. Not only that, but your impersonation of Bela was wonderful. You created a likeable character that your audience could relate to, and whom they rooted for to get the girl in the end. You have a nice tone to your voice and showed excellent breath support and control throughout the show. This is especially difficult to accomplish with such a physically demanding role as yours. Well done! You were well prepared and confident in your performance, which also put the audience at ease. We could tell you were having a blast and we were able to have confidence in your abilities as well. You demonstrated strong vocal technique, diction, and pitch. You also carried nice inflection energy, and expression in your vocals. Your contrasting character as Bela was also impressive and showed your depth as a performer. “What Causes That” was absolutely hilarious. What fun! While singing with Tim, you were balanced and produced nice harmonies. As you continue developing your talents, keep challenging yourself by focusing on proper vocal technique and vowel placement. Additional work will reveal new triumphs for you. Great performance! Best of luck!

Comments: Well….if George Gershwin were alive today, I think he would have enjoyed Jimmy’s performance as Bobby Child. From the opening number “Krazy for you”, Jimmy won the audience over!!! He had great eye contact and a warm and inviting smile that said…here we go audience, join me for a great ride…and that we did!
Jimmy has an effortless vocal tone, which makes it easy for the audience to buy into him actually being Bobby Child. In “I Can’t be Bothered” and “Could You Use Me” his entrances were flawless and on pitch. Jimmy had a great comedic energy,” As In “What Causes That”
( ex: as Zangler). But, when the lyric and number called for him to sing with more affection, he soften his delivery and connected with Tanya, as in “Embraceable You”.
“Slap That Bass” just showed his overall talent and confidence to be a “lead” character.
Jimmy showed great breath control, especially in his dance/singing combo numbers like
” Things are Looking Up”. And “Nice Work If you Can Get It”
This is not my area for judging, but “I Can’t Be Bothered Now” and “Slap That Bass” had great choreography and showed off Jimmy’s dancing abilities..
Super performance Jimmy ….you can sing, act and dance…definitely a TRIPLE THREAT!!!

Comments: He really “knew” his character and did an outstanding job of portraying that character. He brought life to the stage ! His whole body exuded energy, animation, and charm. His lines were delivered with expression and believabilty. He is a natural actor and was totally “cool”. What a phenomenal dancer! He was spirited and energetic, but tender when warranted. He related well to all the cast members and especially to Polly. His acting on stage was very entertaining.

DIRECTORS REPORT
I do not usually comment on the student actors but must congratulate Jimmy Boorum for his wonderful performance of Bobby Child. He is what you call in the business, a triple threat, and handled singing, dancing, and acting in a professional manner. He was so comfortable on stage and had a spark that made it difficult to watch other cast members when he was on stage. My minor complaint for Jimmy’s performance was his ad lib addition. If he is going to add business, he needs to make sure that they are relevant to the time that the musical is taking place and not use modern day references. Other than this minor complaint, he gave a full rounded performance and is to be congratulated.

Comments: Jimmy - Wow! You can dance!! I loved your tap dancing both when you were dancing for Zangler and during "Can't Be Bothered Now." It must have been a lot of fun tapping on top of the car too. Your rhythms were great and you had clear tap sounds. Your "shuffle wings," were fun to watch and you executed your waltz clogs, drawbacks, timesteps with great clarity and musicality.
You and Tim made quite a pair during "What Causes That." The "mirroring" before the song started was fun to watch. Good job using the chair as a prop - you sat on it, stood on it, spun it, and even balanced it on your head. It can be difficult dancing with a prop - but you both appeared like pros. Your timing was great. It is such a funny number and you guys definitely did it justice. Great job!
I also loved seeing you do more of a jazz style dance - " Nice Work If You Can Get It." During this number I was especially impressed that you used your movement to cover a lot of space and to really take command of the stage. It was nice to see that you were able to do all of this with enough ease that you were able to really "perform" it for us. Wonderful job! Keep it up!

Comments: Mr. Boorum, you are the real deal! Your Bobby was one polished performance. It was acted, sung, and danced with professionalism, insight, and stage presence. You understood what makes Bobby tick. Though a relatively small moment, this was no more in evidence than in the second act, once you had returned to NYC. During that scene with your mother, you were dead inside. Dead, that is, until she gave you the title to the theatre. All at once you were alive again, because you were a part of it - the theatre! As I say, that was a small moment that proved that what you accomplished during your bigger moments was part of your overall process, including your cajoling Polly during “Lose That Long Face, and the mirror sequence/”What Causes That?” with Bela. One tiny caveat is that any ad-libbing (which should be avoided completely, out of respect to your fellow actors) should at least be appropriate to the period. In other words, “Smurf Boy” was totally anachronistic. But other than that: Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

Comments: Jimmy, you have such an ease when on stage and your strength in comedic acting lends itself nicely to this role. At times, your physical comedy needed to seem more natural and motivated from within. In an attempt to have the audience appreciate the comedy written within the show, your movements were too large and slapstick. You created a well defined character and made consistent acting choices that added to the multi dimensional portrayal of Bobby. Vocally you possess a strong, well supported and very healthy singing voice. At times your vocal placement was so forward that some vowels sounded nasal, work to place the sound forward but more in the facial mask. Your diction, pitch and rhythm were performed accurately and with such confidence, and the use of dynamics was much appreciated. It added a level of musicality that made your performance very enjoyable. Congratulations on a job well done!
