I got my Gary Allan newsletter today in the mail. In each one, they have ‘Jake’s Tales from the Road’ where he writes about all the things that have been happening.
Well, he told a little story about being on some of the morning shows that I found quite amusing (you don't need to know anything about him when you read it):
Well, we don’t handle morning too well. But, nonetheless, we were all up bright and early the next morning, looking our finest, I’m sure. We headed to the TV studio and did our sound check, after which we were asked by the crew if we could play some bumpers. Bumpers are when the newscaster announces what stories are coming up before they go into a commercial break. They want to announce something along the lines of “coming up, we have Gary Allan in the studio and he’s gonna play his number one hit Tough Little Boys, also Phil’s report on the giant alligators found in the sewer system, plus sports!”
There were a few bumpers that we were asked to play for, so Gary chose different songs for each at random. As chance would have it, while we played Man to Man, it was announced that in the next segment was a story on same sex marriages. Which had us all rolling on the floor in laughter, and wondering if they could hear our laughs over the millions of homes across the country.
