Just what the title says, a few random things that have amused me as of late/will be amusing me in the coming days/weeks/months.
Thing 1: Mortal Kombaaaaaaaat.... movie!!
How come this is the first I have heard of this? I don't even go to the movies, but if this is for real, let me tell you how there I am. Very very there. I've always been interested in things with interesting mythologies, and this is no exception. Yeah, fatalities are fun, but I've honestly always wished there were books that explained the entire story and how the characters interacted with each other in the actual storyline behind cutting each others heads off and beating people with their own severed appendages. There was a movie once (okay, twice, but let's not talk about that second one), but it was cheesy. Fun, yes, but cheesy. This one looks serious. Again, so very, very there!

Oh nooooo! I just read that it is not slated for release until 2013! 2013! I wish there were capital numbers so I could fully express my outrage!
Thing 2: Movies I have already seen!
The theater where I watched Lost is doing their annual Mixed-Tape series, where, for the low price of $4 you get to watch an old-school movie. Last year's Mix-Tap series gave the the chance to finally see Fight Club on the big screen. This year they're showing Se7en. Everyone knows Fight Club and Gladiator are my favorite movies. Se7en is probably my third.
This year's roster includes the following movies. The ones in bold are the ones I want to see. I may just get a 10-movie pass and go see something I've never seen before.
Kick-Off: The Big Lebowski
September - Back to School: Breakfast Club, Say Anything, 10 Things I Hate About You, Heathers, Donnie Darko
October - Horror Classics: Rosemary’s Baby, The Fly, Silence of the Lambs, Army of Darkness
November - Films That Rock: A Hard Day’s Night, Rock and Roll High School, Purple Rain
December - Holiday Classics: A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, Die Hard
January - ‘90s Classics: American Beauty, Se7en, Boogie Nights, The Crow,
February - Valentines/Black History: Groundhog Day, Harold and Maude, The Color Purple, Do The Right Thing
March - ‘80s Fantasy Classics: The Labyrinth, The Neverending Story, Willow, Legend, The Dark Crystal
April - April Fools Comedies: Dumb and Dumber, Happy Gilmore, Kingpin, Wayne’s World
May: Back to the Future
Thing 3: Summer television!
I only watched three shows during the fall season. Survivor, Project Runway and Lost. That's kind of weak, right? Well, don't worry, I am making up for it this summer. Here's the lineup. Note that I still have two reality programs, and this time they are outnumbered by scripted shows. Which ones am I most excited about? Probably True Blood (my first real-time season!) and Mad Men (I found last season to be slow while I watched it, but I've been re-watching episodes lately, and it was not as bad as I recalled. Plus, the season finale was excellent and set up something I am really, really interested in.)
They showed the first 10 minutes of the Jersey Shore premier before the MTV Movie Awards (which I DID NOT watch, not even for the Deathly Hallows footage). It was slightly embarrassing at first, and I kept looking over at Ma to see how disgusted she was at the whole thing. But I think even she could not help but be entertained by the unintentional comedy goldmine that is Pauly D and The Situation alone in a car, driving from New York to Miami. I'd watch an entire season of that... no lie. Also, Snooki's new-found love for fried pickles.
True Blood: Sunday June 13th at 9
Entourage: Sunday June 27th at 10:30
Rescue Me: Tuesday June 29th at 10
Mad Men: Sunday July 7th at 10.
RuPaul's Drag U: Monday July 19th
Jersey Shore: Thursday July 29th at 10.
Thing 4! Diet Coke... with lime!
This was probably my favorite line from both seasons of True Blood... and somebody youtubed it! I don't know what makes it so funny, but I wished I drank what he was drinking, just so I'd have an occasion to say it like he did.

Thing 5: This note.
Jimmy is the district manager. He walked one of the girls who works under me through her department last night and gave her a list of things she needs to have done before he comes back. This is the note I found on my desk this morning. Clicking on it will make it bigger. It won't make "mercendice" a word though.
