I can't decide if I want to do a Heroes post or not. I took notes as I watched it, and then I got sleepy. Then, I loaded it up to watch when I got home from work today, but that was at 5... and the tab is still languishing there, buried beneath all of the other things I am working on at the moment. I considered forgoing the regular rewatch, instead going straight for the commentaried eps, but then I read that 4.2 was Ando, that girl who moves really fast and Beeman. ::groan:: Let me tell you, when Ando is the best you have to offer... not so good. The first one does have Nathan though. (And Kring and someone else.. Arkush maybe? I don't remember.) That is a better group, but I think the second episode was the better one. Not saying that "I know it was better than the first", but "I can't remember where one ended and one began, but the second half may have been better?" I think of it like I normally think of a double CD. If you could pare down some of the crap and just include the good stuff, you could come up with a solid one-disc offering. Of course, in this case, the title would have to be something like "Angela Petrelli Rules, And I Don't Remember Anyone Else Doing Anything Really Compelling. Oh, and Bob is Dead And HRG Was There For About Five Minutes. Where's Adam?!" Or perhaps, something shorter. Maybe "Untitled" or something like the Led Zeppelin "Four Symbols" thing.
I have not talked to any of my real-life people about the episode yet. There were a few random text/ims yesterday, but they were along the lines of "Who did that?", "I forgot I knew he was not really there!" and "Oh, this is gonna suck." My sister was watching (two seasons too late) and would IM a comment and I'd be all, "Needs more HRG!" Then he showed up. That was good.
I have not been reading too many reactions, because I am still undecided on if I am posting something or not. I just know that overall it seemed like too-much-too-fast. I know there were complaints last season about the pacing, but you don't counteract taking eleven episodes to explain one thing by explaining seventeen things in one episode. That's just bad pacing. Also, when Nathan said "Save ourselves, save the world" I may have gagged a bit. Oh, and I think I like Future!Peter better than Present!Peter. I like how, unlike his present self, he seems to have am actual backbone. That's a vast improvement.
House was not too bad, but I think I liked the 10:00 USA rerun better. (The one with the little girl who had cancer. House was all freaked out because she was not afraid.) I think my watching things out of order is going to catch up with me eventually. I seemed to have missed Cameron dating both House and Chase. As far as the new episode, I liked the PI, even though he was played by that crazy guy that SPOILER ALERT! kidnapped David and made him smoke crack on Six Feet Under. And, even though I like him, I am finding Wilson to be a bit of a jerk. (Plus, he has a weird eye thing going on that distracts me. He will be giving a serious speech and I keep dropping out of it because it's like one of his eyes is looking at the screen and one is not. ) I know he will be back eventually, so I guess I will just roll with it. House trying to get that other doctor (I just spelled it "docture" then.. when I was like "something is wrong with that!" I deleted the e.... then, put it back again. Ouch!) to be his New!Wilson was hilarious. I think it could have worked, but Not!Wilson was unwilling to give it a chance. I also like Kumar and that old guy. (Kutner and Taub? Something like that. What ever happened to that random black Mormon guy? I liked the episode where House kept needling him. Plus, I laughed every time he called him "Big Love". Speaking of which, I just found out that Amber is the same girl who plays Alby's wife on Big Love. She has range! Only, by that I mean, she is pretty much plaiying kind of the same character on BL, only in prarie garb. Oh look, she is also on Mad Men. Again, why am I not watching that? Man, this parenthetical deal really got out of hand. I guess I will wrap it up now.)
