Sometimes I'm That Guy... sometimes, I'm not. Mostly I am, though.
So, okay.. remember a few weeks ago, when there was the big Post of Mystery all about Heroes and Holidays and all that? The one with the super secret screened comments and the "What's going on here?!" "Never mind!" and all that? And then the follow-up all about how everyone and their mother said either "2.Mohinder 3. Nathan" or "2.Nathan, 3.Mohinder"? Well, here is the part where it starts to maybe, hopefully make sense.
I wanted to do something festive, you know, for the holiday season and all. Drawing dejected/sad/embarrassed Mohinders is fun (really, it is!) but I wanted to switch it up a bit, and do something new. The first idea was sort of a "12 Days of Christmas" Heroes-style, but that would hinge on me being able to produce 12 days in a row. That's a lot of pressure, and we all know how it would turn out. Plus, I'd have to think of 12 different things and assign them characters and well, that is what we call "a logistical nightmare". So then I decided to just do random scenes, you know... Heroes doing festive things. But who do draw doing what? Another roadblock! And that is where you guys came in!
I tend to associate certain people with certain Heroes. Like, whether they are your technical favorite or not, for the people I talk to regularly, there is always the one character who I know, if I had to make something geared towards you, I would go with every time. Some of them are obvious, but others are not. That is where the "2nd and 3rd favorite Heroes" came in. Everyone knows everyone's favorite (plus, I already had the list of who-gets-who set up) but I needed something to fall back on, just in case I could not come up with anything. The numbers 2 and 3 were my fall-back, so to speak.
So, basically the idea is that, since I got eight responses, that is eight pictures, plus mine.. so nine. That comes out to one every other day, with a small cushion at the end. Plus, as always, there is still a little bit of "that guy" involved, because, unless people were talking in other venues, no one knows what anyone else said. So each one will be a tiny surprise. Also, no one knows what order they will come up in (except that some people picked their own position. For those who were there, this would be the random AIM chat "pick a number between 1 and 9!") That being said... here is the first one. (Wow, that was a lot of words! Too much build-up, but I did not want to do a separate post)
I am still playing around with the format and am not using Illustrator on these, so I am still trying to figure out how to make the scanned images look as close to the paper ones as possible. Hopefully I can get that worked out before too long.
