Things in Europe are going well, though I have some kind of stomach flu. I have had it since Sunday and this is day #3 of diarrhea. Not sure what happened, maybe its because I had some tap water at Shane's apartment in Madrid (referred to as 'Franco's Revenge'). Anyways, I've been taking immodium since yesterday afternoon. Hopefully it will go away soon.
The weather in Spain was fantasic up until the last day. The first day in town I was actually in just a t-shirt and my jacket for when I was in a shadow (high 50s? whatever 15-17 degrees is). On the 26th we took the train to Toledo and met a brother & sister from Honduras. The guy has been living here for 4 years, teaching English, and she is visiting him for the holidays. They speak with American accents and go to Miami often (of course). On the 27th we met them at El Escondial and then had dinner with them at the Hard Rock in Madrid. On Sunday we were supposed to meet them at the Art Museum Reina Sofia, but that was when I started to not feel well. I didn't get to any of the museums while I was in Madrid, unfortunately. From
Europe December 2008 So glad to be in Ireland (civilization). Madrid was beatufiul (architecture-wise) but its old, dirty, and the sidewalks are a mine field of dog shit. The hotel here in Dublin is good, decent location, and very cozy. Got to sleep in until 11am, that felt great. Today I met my friend Mark, who I met in 2004, for lunch and walked around town. I bought a new jacket at H&M, since the jacket I brought isn't warm enough for the evenings, and I'll need something warmer for Amsterdam. Hopefully the sun will come out a bit while we're here. Shane is showering now, its 8:15pm, and we're going to go out for a beer.
