Vegas!

Got back from Vegas last night. It was a pretty exhausting 3 day trip. When I got in Wednesday, I met up with some coworkers for dinner and a few drinks. I was fighting a cold, so I only had 2 cocktails. We had this awesome sushi/Asian dinner at the Social House in Treasure Island. There were about 14 of us, and the total check came out to be around $1000. After that I went to bed and got a good 8 hours of sleep before the all day meeting we had at the Wynn on Thursday. The majority of my coworkers were out til 3am at Tangerine.

Thursday night a coworker (Steve S) and I went to the mexican restaurant inside TI for dinner, and it was quite yummy. I was feeling much better after the full night's rest. I had the pineapple sangria along with my meal, and we ate WAY too many chips (love handles came back with a vengeance this last week). After that I hung out with Tracee and Shannon until Scott (Harvey's friend) arrived from the airport. Davey and Harvey weren't so lucky, they didnt' make it in until 11pm or so, and closer to midnite at the hotel. Scott and I had some drinks with my coworkers while we waited. No one could decide on what to do, so Scott got himself a sandwich from Canters Deli and we went back into the room. I got into bed while he ate, and then went to meet Davey and Harvey downstairs to give them their keys. I slept like crap the entire night...no real reason why. Maybe it was the Red Bull I had around 8pm? I dunno!

Friday was a wash. I was up before my alarm went off, so I showered and got dressed while the boys in the room slept. I made my 8am breakfast meeting, and then headed back to the hotel. I met up with the boys at the buffett and had some lunch. We then walked down the strip all the way to the Luxor. It was in the low 60s and the sun was blaring, felt great, however I was wearing a black t-shirt and was slowly cooking. At the Excalibur we finally sat down at their war table, and I left the table $15 ahead (Harvey was $60 ahead). From there we headed to the Luxor, where Davey got down to sit down in the poker room. Scott, Harvey and I walked around the casino, then decided to head back to TI. The lack of sleep was getting to me, and I knew it was going to be a long night, so I went back to the room to nap.

The party at the Joint that evening was OK. Didn't seem as exciting or fun as the previous years. We had Earth Wind & Fire perform again, and the crowd like them. I paced myself so I didn't get drunk. Once the crowd started to disperse, I had another cocktail or two, and then met the boys across the street at the Hofbrauhaus, and by then I was pretty drunk. Scott is fun to flirt with when he's tipsy too, and the 4 of us were having a pretty good time. From there we went to Pirahna, one of the gay bars, next to Gypsy. We walked there, thinking we were going to need a cab, and it was only a 5 minute walk.

Interesting events at Pirahna. When we balked at the $10 cover, we turned around and headed to Gypsy (I was in a suit from the party...I have to say I looked rather good) :P One of the bouncers chased after us and ushered us in for free (!?!!). Woohoo! The drinks weren't as cheap as they were in June, but maybe it was because it was after midnite. The place was hopping, and the drinks were good. There was an upstairs area, turns out it was VIP. I asked the bouncer at the stairs what one needed to do to get up there, and he said we had to buy a fifth of booze. I was like 'okaaaaay, whatever' and turned around. Harvey and Davey hit the bar and were flirting with some boy, and Scott and I were watching the dancefloor. Another bouncer walks up to me (did I tell you I was looking snazzy??) and asks me how many in my party. He was giving us access to the upstairs VIP lounge (?!?!). It wasn't anything special up there, though they had three special private rooms with chairs and couches. We divied up our time between up there and downstairs. I don't think any of us ever danced. Harvey ran into some AS flight attendants, one that I recognized from the gym when I used to go in the mornings. He was wearing this long sleeve pullover with these studs on them, and it looked good on him. I asked him if he made it with a 'bedazzler'. I guess I was having an asshole moment. He said "yes, isn't it fabulous?" then turned around and left. I must have offended. :-o

Anyhoo, we left around 2am, and there were still people going in. We were done. We grabbed a cab with a Bulgarian taxi driver. I kept yelling "ICH GLOTZ TV" and then singing Zarah Leander songs in the back seat. He was laughing as he seemed to understand. I think Davey headed straight up to the room to go to bed, but Harvey and I hung around the casino. The war table at the TI was open, but a $10 minimum. I was drunk and stupid enough to plunk down $40. I think Harvey played with $100 and on his last bet, put like $60. He wasn't in the lucky seat that time (neither of us were). When he lost all his chips, I was down to $10, so I didn't hesitate to get up and cash out. We headed back up to the room and went to bed after slapping Davey and Scott on the ass a bit. It must have been around 3am by the time we all got into bed.

Woke up at 7am! Grrrrrr! And with a nasty hangover, and breath that could stop a train. I finally gave up trying to sleep around 8, got up and showered, and headed downstairs to the buffet. After eating and taking my meds (last antibiotic, yay!) and some tylenol, my headache was finally going away. We didn't really know what to do with the rest of the day. We farted around then all decided at noon, when we checked out, to just go straight to the airport and forget the rest of the afternoon in Vegas. We were done, we wanted to go home. There was a flight at 1:13 I could try to catch, but it was full by the time I got to the gate. The three of us got some lunch (Scott went off to his US Air flight to LAX) and just dillydallied on the laptop. I decided to go for a walk, and ran into the Star Wars slot machine I was $135 on in June. I put in $10, and lost 75 cent on my first bet. I don't know how to play those game. I changed my bet to 3 lines, and then won $30. :-) woohoo! I cashed out and headed back to Harvey and Davey. I knew better than to keep playing and lose it all!

Got on my 4:21pm flight back to Seattle, and Davey and Harvey made the 4:50pm. I swear Davey landed just 15 minutes after I did. I got my car from MasterPark (lot B of course) and then picked up Davey at the terminal. Last night I went through my dirty clothes and toiletries, put them away, watched tv and was in bed at 10:30.
