Hmm, yeah, I've just purged my shelves of his books. (I'd not yet read any of them; they were on a very big TBR pile.) He has just crossed the OSC line for me.

Oh, he's supposed to be a writer -- a SF/F writer, no less? I looked him up, and didn't see anything I've ever spotted on the shelves in a convention dealer room.

I don't think we even need to go there. I mean, if he was a bestselling author with books flying off the shelves, that wouldn't make his rant any less odious.

Actually, I was thinking about it from a different direction -- that being (supposedly) a writer doesn't give his opinions any more weight than they would have coming from J. Random Troll. But you're right, it was snide and probably would have been better left unsaid.

I had about three of his books on my shelves. As it happens, I started to read another book of his a few months ago and put it down because it hadn't caught my interest. Which made getting rid of the rest of them an even easier decision.
