Other Fundraiser Awesomeness

I think I'm going to try to frame it as an encouragement thing. "If I can start with this and eventually get published, so can you!" and so on.

I will probably ham it up a bit to keep it entertaining, too. (And maybe possibly to try to distract from the prose itself...)

Hey--I suggested that! Are you really going to do that one? (That was my first thought too. Apparently I will never look at SF and Fantasy covers the same again.)

And I already contributed to the Worldbuilders. What a great cause.

Looking forward to the Youtube video with unholy glee.

I found the fundraiser for Jay Lake via Seanan McGuire's LJ. As a geneticist by training, I find it amazingly cool that sequencing his cancer is a viable option, especially at such a relatively low cost. I'm quite impressed by how quickly the community has stepped up to make it happen.

I also got there from Seanan McGuire's LJ post. I'm so glad that the community can show its worth in this kind of fundraiser. Long before I knew any of Sooj's work, I bought a copy of Ravens in the Library.

And yes, I admit the coolness "for science!" factor really interested me. But what also interested me was the number of names I recognized on the roll call, from George Martin to Ilona Andrews (I'm assuming both of them) to some of my friends. It appears that, even only eight hours after it opened, I was late to the party.
