Just a few quick things today. First off, LiveJournal has been acting up again, so this is a reminder that the blog is available on my site and through Dreamwidth. There’s also an RSS feed.

Secondly, it’s awards season. The only thing I really have from last year that’s eligible for anything would be Libriomancer. So if you’re eligible to nominate ( Read more... )

Libriomancer showed up on Audible this morning (might've been there yesterday, but not until after my early morning perusal of the latest releases) and immediately went into my shopping cart. Looking forward to listening to it (my predominate form of reading these days, what with sore eyes and tired brain from too much writing on my day job). Congrats!

Thanks! I haven't actually heard it yet - you'll have to let me know how they did! :-)

I am nominating Libriomancer for the inaugural (and therefore not prestigious, but still awesome) DEEJ award.

To be worthy of a DEEJ, a book must be so much fun to read, and have characters who are so liked by the reader and put it such bad straits by the author, that the reader is compelled to put the book down and not finish reading it until a sequel comes out. ^_~

Sounds pretty darn awesome to me! :-)

What does DEEJ stand for?

We do have a UK deal for Libriomancer, but I don't know when it's scheduled for publication. I'll share that info as soon as I have it, though!

Sad to say that the audiobook for Libromancer is pretty shockingly amateur. The narration is just. terrible. The guy can't do different voices and his pacing is supremely weird (with frequent breaks in the middle of sentences).

But the worst? All the mispronunciations! It got so bad I started keeping a list...
- possession (pronounced PO-session)
- automoton (pronounced auto-maton, which grated every one of the dozens of times it appears in the text)
- The Dark Lord Sauron (the Dark Lord Sa-Ran? Wrap?)
- Feed by... Maria Grant
- Frigerator instead of refrigerator
- Golem (pronounced goo-lem)
- dimentia (pronounced de-men-she-a)
- pseudonym (pronounced pseudonism, even better after an... interesting... take on "nom de gurre")
- diety (pronounced die-ity)
- construct (con-STRUCT)
- impale (im-pall)

But the absolute worst -- the one that elicited an actual cry of disgust?

Copernicus? No, it's Coe-per-nick-us.

Suffice it to say, I will be reading book 2 in print.

Well, crud. I haven't heard it myself, but I'm very sorry.

On the other hand, I would totally read a short story about the Dark Lord of Saran Wrap!

So I neglected to mention the ACTUAL worst, which was that he calls the main character "Eye-zay-ick" throughout. I thought it was a unique name until I looked at the blurb and realized... well, you know.

Great story though! Really enjoyed myself.

Ouch.

Well, I'm sorry the audiobook was such a painful experience for you, but I'm glad you liked the story!
