According to the Global Terrorism Database, 3029 people were killed by terrorists in the United States between 2000 and 2010. That's an average of 275 people per year.

Considering rape is another form of terrorism, it boggles the mind that it is not taken more seriously. There is a gender difference in the politics. Rape is an act of terrorism against mostly women; ergo, they consider it a "woman's problem". That's the only conclusion I can reach, from the rhetoric.

That lines up pretty well with my thinking.

I do get that terrorism is big and dramatic, which means it has a more powerful impact on people's perceptions. But still...

I'm a bit surprised it's been this quiet so far.

My therapist actually suggested I do more to make sure I'm in a space to deal with comments and conflict before posting this sort of thing. Which I was ... until I got a phone call about some family issues. (Nothing dangerous, nobody injured; just upsetting.) I suddenly find myself with fewer spoons and sporks than I expected.
