Kalamazoo Signing and a Random Toilet Observation

Aug 19, 2011 09:30

Tomorrow starting at 1:00 p.m., I’ll be joining Sarah Zettel and Douglas Anderson at Kazoo Books in 2413 Parkview in Kalamazoo for an afternoon of fantasy, talking about books and magic and all that good stuff. (And signing any books you’d care to shove at me, of course!)

There’s a Facebook event page here, for those who like that sort of thing.

This is, of course, the culmination of 21st century toilet seat technology.

Never been to Japan, have you?

I will swear I have been in a hotel suite where the toilet seat had a QWERTY keyboard for programming your preferences.

That would make for a very different, but equally disturbing image...

Now you made me think of that old "Diarrhea" song I knew as a kid...

Some people think it's gross
But it's really good on toast!

So THAT's why little boys will not close the lid. A lot makes sense now . . .

Disturbing Pac Man imagery aside, I know that some little kids do end up going to the pediatrician or hospital for that very reason. Not sure how frequently (and it's not something I'm going to try to Google at work), but it happens.

No, it totally makes sense--small fingers find the seat awkward, and that is a tough angle. I just never heard a kid articulate it--even my son, who was quite vociferous about all other "wiener issues" when small.

Just be glad your poor boy didn't have an OAK toilet seat cover to deal with - can you sayscream "OUCH"?

Some of the plastic ones can get pretty heavy/solid too, but yeah, oak would be even nastier.

thanks for the giggle Jim, but in all seriousness I did not know they made slow closing toilet seats. As our almost three year old is determined to go pee just like Daddy, he has had a run in or two with the "evil plastic wiener chomping pac man" Perhaps we shall look into replacing our seat with a new non wiener chomping seat.

If I had known about these a few years ago when my son was at that stage, I'd have bought 'em for all three toilets in the house without hesitation.
