I missed a friend promo yesterday, ’cause my brain sucks.  Yesterday was the release date for my friend Deborah Blake’s new nonfiction book Witchcraft on a Shoestring [B&N | Mysterious Galaxy | Amazon].

I have not. Someday I hope to be able to travel a lot more (vacation + research = lifestyle win!!!), but we're not there yet.

Just to be clear, I didn't make this one. But I'd like to ... I wonder if he'd be willing to send me the plans. I could do one with white bricks, and add in three princess-style minifigs!

I've been trying to figure out for years just WHAT the heck I am. Turns out, I'm a miscellany :-)

Thanks for mentioning me, Jim. I'm writing up a review of RED HOOD'D REVENGE soon...I'll be sure and say something nice...

Heh. As an alternative, you could have been a "stuff" too :-)

"I'll be sure and say something nice..."

I can see it now. "Well, the font was pretty good, and it had nice, clean margins. But other than that..."

Don't be silly--I'll mention how nice the cover was, too.

That's awesome. :D Beautiful work.

Angie, who's still humming "Men of Harlech"

Betraying my ignorance here -- I wasn't even aware of the song. Off to Google...

Hee! After you find "Men of Harlech," which is legitimately a Welsh folk song, with versions in Welsh and English both, you'll have to look for "Woad," set to the same tune, which is modern and funny and should be easy to find because it was professionally recorded, although it's popular in both filking and SCA bardic circles. Then, if you're feeling ambitious, see if you can find "Men of Riesling," which is purely a filk but is a closer parody of "Men of Harlech," although I've never heard it recorded (but I've never gone looking, either. [ponder])

[FEW MINUTES LATER]

Hah! I went Googling and found the words to Men of Riesling. :D (They're at the bottom of all the reminiscences.) You can find the tune to "Men of Harlech/Woad" with no problem; the words to alternate songs are the hard part. [grin]
